Like it or not, winter is quickly looming its ugly head. With snow and cold weather right around the corner, we here at Hudson Hyundai want to offer four tips to help Jersey City drivers prepare their Hyundai vehicles:

  • Cold weather can make existing engine problems worse, so it's best to take care of it now. Routine oil and filter changes, and replacing other dirty filters will help to keep it running efficiently.
  • Weak batteries struggle in extreme temperatures. Before the negative degree weather gets here, have your battery tested to make sure it can handle another northeast winter.
  • Bald tires struggle to gain traction on the road, which leads to less effective handling. This can be dangerous in winter road conditions. Check the tread on your tires, and if necessary purchase some winter tires which are designed to handle in snow.
  • Should anything happen on your winter drive, an emergency kit is always helpful to have in your vehicle. Stock it extra blankets, gloves, hats, and boots to stay warm. Pack flares, a small shovel, and kitty litter in case you get stuck. Also bring an extra car phone charger to call for help, and a flashlight with extra batteries, and snacks while you wait.
