How many performance-tuned models did Hyundai show off at this year's SEMA Show? Five. That's right, the South Korean automaker cam touting five new vehicles, three of which used the all-new 2012 Hyundai Veloster as a platform, while two others were based on the already established 2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Hudson Hyundai as lucky enough to get the inside scoop on what our favorite South Korean automaker was showing off at their booth, and we couldn't resist giving a quick recap of each vehicle.
First up is the ARK Performance Veloster. It features a wide range of enhancements, ranging from its 210-horspower twin-turbocharged engine to its bright green and flat gray paintjob. ARK also announced at the show that they'll be developing a lineup of engine and exterior modification parts for the Veloster.
Next up is the PM Lifestyle Veloster, which featured a blue paintjob with a black carbon fiber hood. The vehicle features a specially-made leather interior, Konig Deception wheels, and a Kicker sound system. It's set to be shown off at more than 120 autocross, supercross, and school demonstration events across the country, ensuring that it remains in the public eye for the next three years.
The final Veloster variant that Hyundai showed off at the 2011 SEMA Show is the Rhys Millen Racing 2WD Global Rally Cross Veloster. The only thing more impressive than this vehicle's lengthy name is its aggressive 300 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft. of torque. Its performance is further increased by the lightweight RMR body panels and rally-inspired suspension that have been added, making it the speediest Veloster seen so far!
Although, if real performance is what you're after, then look for further than Rhys Millen Racing's other creation, the RM500 Genesis Coupe. It features a 450-horsepower 5.0-liter Tau V8 engine under the hood, as well as a custom RMR stainless exhaust with GReddy rear section muffler and titanium tips, oil cooler and rear differential cooler.
And last, but far, far, FAR from least is the most charismatic vehicle of the show, the Genesis Hurricane SC. This vehicle rocks a supercharged 3.8-liter V6 engine, which unleashes an incredible 450 horsepower on the unsuspecting road, as well as exterior and interior modifications from the minds at Magnuson Products, Rhys Millen Racing, Torvec Inc., and Harman International.
While none of these specific models will likely ever make it into production, the parts that were used to create them can be attained by any true performance enthusiast who's looking to take their ride to the next level. Of course, the first step in recreating any one of these vehicles is to first come take one for a test drive at 977 Communipaw Ave in Jersey City, NJ, so what are you waiting for?
